JD & Cindy
High school sweethearts and music lovers
If you’re into Western Pennsylvania’s live music scene, you’ve probably heard of JD & Cindy by now. If you’re into great music, you need to hear them. With classic rock vibes – but sounds and songs that resonate with any generation – this acoustic pop rock duo always draws a crowd.
Known for powerful vocals, the rockers – JD Ross and Cindy Ross – present a song list with artists that range from Jethro Tull, The Beatles, and Jefferson Airplane to Fleetwood Mac, The Lumineers, and Alison Krause. JD & Cindy also mixes original tunes into their set, songs that mirror the group’s ability to cross genres, from catchy rhythms (think Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks”) to the bluesy rock feel of Hot Tuna or Jefferson Airplane.
Built from a lifetime perfecting the craft, the group combines seasoned talent to create its distinctive sound. Band members JD and Cindy Ross have been making music together since 1977, starting with the acoustic duo JECI. Married for over 40 years, the couple has formed the nucleus for numerous successful bands.
JD Ross
Singer/songwriter JD Ross (guitar, bass guitar, flute percussion, and violin) started gigging with a band in 1976, kicking off a four-decades-and-counting career. He’s performed in numerous shows along the East Coast. Although a talented musician and composer, he is most often remembered for his Ian Anderson style flute playing. Now retired from 35 years in banking, JD is free to focus on his passion full time. Some of his favorite artists are Jethro Tull, Bob Marley, and Joni Mitchel.
Cindy Ross
The versatile Cindy Ross (guitar, bass guitar, vocals, flute, percussion, mandolin, ukulele) has been a longtime fan of Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Christine Mcvie. Her musical taste spans many genres from Johnny Cash to Deep Purple, and eras from Carol King to Ed Sheeran. Cindy is also a sought after musicial instrument instructor who continues to share her talents with the next crop of budding musicians.
